Got to experience the new translation of the mass for the first time this morning, and was struck by the new formulation for the confession at the very beginning of the service. It used to be the (sort of glib) “I have sinned through my own fault.”
Now it says, “I have sinned through my fault, my fault, my most grievous fault.”
No escaping it anymore.
