I was raised in rural upstate New York, a homeschooled, chicken-raising, piano-playing, clothes-sewing girl with a bedroom full of books. These days, I write and read and edit and study and teach. I fly a lot, too, mostly between coasts. My longsuffering husband Tom and I live in Brooklyn in a tiny apartment stuffed with books and photography equipment. We have no pets, because cats make me sneeze and dogs make messes, but we really want a de-scented skunk.
My life goal is to read all the books (all of them), and I am learning to love long-distance running. I have an enormous weakness for sci-fi television, scotch, empty notebooks, cheap ramen noodles, and getting lost on purpose in unfamiliar cities.
